What we build

BrightScale Labs builds financial calculators that show their working. FireMathLab is the focused product: financial independence, debt, savings, mortgages and net worth, with planning tools you return to rather than a single-use calculator. We also run FinToolSuite, a broader library of general-purpose financial calculators built on the same principle.

The company is small by design and run by its founder. There is no sales team, no call centre, and nobody here whose job is to move you toward a product.

Regulatory status

BrightScale Labs Limited is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). We are a software company, not a financial adviser, bank, broker or credit intermediary, and we do not provide regulated financial advice, credit broking or investment management services.

Everything on FireMathLab is provided for education and illustration. The calculators model the shape of a decision; they do not make a personal recommendation, and they cannot account for your full circumstances. Nothing on this site is a financial promotion as defined in Section 21 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, and nothing here is an invitation or inducement to engage in investment activity. Before a significant financial decision, speak to a qualified professional regulated in your jurisdiction.

How the site is funded

The calculators are free and do not require an account, which means the cost of running the site has to come from somewhere. It comes from advertising, and ads may appear on any page where ad policy permits it. What advertising does not get is your data: no advertiser receives the figures you enter, they are never used to target ads, and they are never sold.

The site may carry affiliate links in articles, and where it does they are disclosed. They never appear inside a calculator, and they have no influence on any result, ranking or piece of methodology. Our editorial policy sets out that separation in full.

Your data

We do not connect to your bank. You type your figures in, they are stored against your account so you can track them over time, and they go nowhere else. The privacy policy covers what is stored, for how long, and how to delete all of it, which you can do yourself from your account at any time.
