FireMathLab Β· operated by BrightScale Labs Β· last updated August 2026
The short version: FireMathLab is a free educational planning tool. Its projections are simplified models, not predictions and not advice. Use it to explore and learn; make real financial decisions with a qualified adviser.
1. Who we are
FireMathLab is operated by BrightScale Labs Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under number 16990009, whose registered office is 8 Flay Field, Tithebarn, Exeter, England, EX1 3YA. You can reach us at hello@firemathlab.com. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZC171322. More detail is on the company page.
BrightScale Labs Limited is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and does not provide regulated financial advice, credit broking or investment management services.
2. The service
FireMathLab is a free service for modelling financial independence, debt payoff, savings goals, mortgages and net worth. We may change, add or remove features at any time. We aim for high availability but don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
3. Who can use it
You must be 18 or over to create an account. The service is intended for adults, is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly allow under-18s to register. If we find that an account belongs to a child we will delete it.
4. Not financial advice
Nothing in this app (including calculators, simulations, reports, benchmarks and AI-generated explanations) is financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Projections use simplified assumptions (approximate historical data, constant real returns, no taxes) and real outcomes will differ. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions.
5. Your account & data
Your data stays yours, and for almost everyone it stays on your own device: plans, net worth and the diary are kept in your browser and never sent anywhere. That means we cannot recover them if the browser loses them, so take a copy from the Account page when it matters. You can export or permanently delete everything there at any time. Only the site's owner accounts sign in, and they are responsible for keeping that sign-in safe. See the privacy policy for how data is handled.
6. Acceptable use
Don't attempt to disrupt the service, access other users' data, scrape at scale, or use the app for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.
7. What you post on the community board
You keep ownership of what you post, and you grant us a licence to display it on the site. You are responsible for it, and by posting you confirm it is yours to post.
Posts are reviewed before they appear. We remove content that is illegal, and we will remove content that breaches our community guidelines, including financial advice presented as personal recommendation, promotion of products, harassment, and anything designed to mislead. Priority illegal content, and anything that puts a person at risk, is removed as soon as we become aware of it.
Reporting. Every post carries a Report control, and you can also reach us through the support page or by email. Reports are reviewed by a person. Tell us which post and why, and we will act on it; you do not need an account to report something.
If we remove your post or suspend your account you can appeal by replying to us. We will look again and explain the outcome.
8. Liability
The service is provided βas isβ. To the maximum extent permitted by law, BrightScale Labs is not liable for losses arising from use of the app, including financial decisions based on its output. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use the service after changes means you accept them.
10. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, email hello@firemathlab.com or use the support page and we will reply. Complaints about how we have handled your personal data can also go to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you keep the right to bring proceedings in your own local courts, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.
